I did one paid PR post for one company. Now if they want to use my writing skills they should allow me to write in my style. However, they decided to edit my writing and screwed it up. Their editing screwed what I had written. No, this is not an ego issue. After all they were paying for it anyway. 100% of my readers thought the writing was shit…

I get one call a day from some PR company, or media company to do a post of theirs. I just say no. I have said no to credit card companies, small lenders, small bankers, life insurance, mutual funds………..the whole bfsi sector, etc. One shoe company wanted to give me a shoe for doing a positive review of their running shoes. No, it did not atually happen – I did not write it, even though I am very happy with the shoes. I am happy with Asics, Adidas, Nike, Puma, Decathalon,….why should I single out a single shoe?

My other problem with PR companies is the people with whom I have to deal. Generally they only know what their customer has told them. They do not know the logic of what the client is saying. More often than not they are secretive about the client. A couple of times they got the name of the client wrong – and it was not strategic JUST plain mistake.

So I have nothing against Public Relations people. I do think they are doing a decent job for themselves and for their employers. However I have no clue how I can be an “Influencer” when even my own lungs and limbs don’t listen to me. That is the advantage of cycling or running. So, hey PR firm, please, but calling me is a waste of time.

I just don’t do paid posts. Even if you are willing to pay real nice big round sum.

  1. And that’s exactly why you have so many loyal readers like me Sir.
So when you say you believe in XYZ fund, I for sure know that fund XYZ is the one that one need to invest in.
When you casually say what is written in a particular book, I make sure that’s the book that need to be in my shelf next.
When you give example of people who lost their money because of some foolish moves, I need to ensure that I don’t repeat the same mistake.
All because there is absolutely no PR involved in your writings and so I can blindly believe an experienced person like you.

  2. Day by day the word “TRUST” is getting eroded. Its very very rare to find mentors like you. Any references you make will be trustworthy. Thanks for your strong resolve to keep PR out of your blog.
