Worried about Retirement?
Most people in their 50s when they talk about their retirement are worried about:
a) running out of money and having to depend on their kids for support
b) fall in standard of living as time goes by
c) rising health care costs
d) not sure where to live in their real old age – say 80 to 104!!
I still meet a lot of people who want to plan their retirement. Right from a 28 year old who wants to retire at 49 to a 59 year old whose only hope in life is a 4 year extension that all his other friends have got so far in his company. It is shocking to see people so totally unprepared for an event which all of us know. When you are 25 you still know that you will retire at 60 – you have 35 years to plan for.
However there is a big, major problem. A voluntary saving (investing) plan to save for 40 years in a commercially available Retirement plan is just not enough. Even CEOs of mutual funds, life insurance companies etc. do not invest in “commercially available” plans. Are you shocked? Well, don’t be. To think that a person can create his own corpus on his own is wrong. It is a lot of effort..and you need guidance. Either look for a good competent adviser or learn it yourself. Start by reading
Of course it is available on Amazon.com – it is a book written by me. “Retire Rich: Invest Rs. 40 a day”. Go on buy it.
