Nominating in a life insurance policy
I can now say it. One amazing mistake that I had made in recent times was with respect to an old Life Insurance policy (taken in 1988 by my wife -4 years before our marriage). It was a 30 year Classic Endowment plan. No that was not the mistake.
This policy had my mother in law as a nominee. She had died about 6 years ago…AND WE HAD NOT CHANGED THE NOMINEE. This is Himalayan Blunder!!
I did it. I have no doubt how I would have reacted if somebody else had done it. This policy matured on 28 March and I got the payment on 28th…and since it was a maturity claim…the nominee did not matter…but how foolish!
Here is an article I wrote MORE THAN 10 YEARS AGO…read on..

I tried changing nominee in my LIC policy. Its far more difficult than landing on Mars.
P.S. I had purchased it when I wasnt a reader of Subramoney:)
