  1. Its quite simple. When you sold the RE after 5 years, you got 100 lakhs. Now for simplicity sake, lets discard the capital gains tax – that would get offset by the rental gains that you made.

    So out of the 100 lakhs, you pay back 35 lakhs to the bank to close the loan. You are left with 65 lakhs.
