Hi Subra,
Wanted to share with you this experience. We wanted to get our car insurance done within one day, as it had expired a week back. Online we tried, but Bharti axa rejected it, as car had some un repaired damage. So my hubby went to Bajaj Allianz office in Indiranagar Bangalore. Previous policy was from Bajaj Allianz.

After car inspection, they gave this policy hard copy and the premium was more than last year’s. When asked, they said it was because this year there is no NCB: there was an ownership change from his bro to him. So he believed it. However, my husband was sick and didn’t bother to look at the document immediately, but forwarded me the soft copy. I looked at it and found broker code entered there and we called them up immediately. Their call center nos don’t work! This branch manager said if we want to cancel the policy he will still retain the third party liability. But in royalsundaram website I found that if you get new insurance, they have to refund everything.

Ok, that’s secondary, now what is a broker code doing in this document? Isn’t it wrong of them to do this? It is a branch office and they can’t enter broker code right? We approached the head office and found out that the actual premium by Bajaj for the same IDV was 11000 inclusive of all taxes. They will follow it up on Monday.

If you want to publish this in your blog, to help other readers, please hide our identity. We feel really sad that it is also our foolishness to get cheated. In fact had we seen this site before and transferred insurance also after Rc transfer, there wouldn’t have been any problem.

My husband was busy with office work and so we couldn’t transfer it, thought we would go for fresh policy just before it expires! It was a big blunder…

Facts:
Car: Honda City 2010 1.5vtec, registered in Feb 2010 Bangalore, initially in his bro’s name through his corporate car policy.
Last year it was 10000 after 20% NCB. This year without NCB-due to ownership change- it is 11k, when we checked with head office. Car IDV last year was around 6.25L.

Actually my mail had 2 attachments. In that the model and the premium are mentioned. Since the readers can’t see that photo, they may not make out in what way we got cheated. Actually the Bajaj branch charged us 12752 in place of 11000 by entering broker code.

  1. Do written communication with them (email) and escalate within the company. If they don’t listen write to IRDA and send bajaj allianz a copy of the complaint. They will resolve it.
