What topics to write on: Inviting suggestions…
Vaibhav has suggested that I take readers views:
happy to do that
Please suggest what topics to write on…However here is a NEGATIVE list, on which I will not write:
– which share to buy
– top best 5 shares to buy / mf schemes to invest
– anything specific about a company or a scheme (i track only 10 schemes, so cannot write anything about the 40,000 schemes which exist)
– will not write about ‘financial planners’ and their ilk or about the fraternity to which they belong
……actually it is tough to even make a very long negative list…but yes the suggestions are welcome.

Sir,
One topic I have always wanted you to write about is looking at Balnce sheets of companies for fundamental analysis. With your huge experience in equity market and your CA background, You are in a perfect position to let us know about probable red flags while doing fundamental analysis for direct equity exposure. A post on balance sheet analysis/Cash flow Analysis/Financial Ratios would be most wonderful for people like me who would like to dabble in stock selection and also to evaluate when a stock is overpriced/bargain.

Another Post could be on YOUR financial mistakes (For eg a bad stock selection), the reasons why you did it and WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE to avoid it. This will prevent many a novices like us to commit the same mistakes.

Subra sir,
Can you please write about portfolio re-balancing ? I know it is vast & complicated topic. But your lucid and point blank examples will make this topic simple.

I second Jayant. If you are doing a SIP in 3-4 MF schemes, then how should one rebalance them ? If equity is doing well, what kind of debt schemes should you go in for. Also, if the scheme is not doing too well, is it advisable to exit in one shot into another or do it systematically ?

Write about your real life experiences. You must have come across people who screwed up their investments/portfolio or a financial strategy that worked well for someone.
Nothing is good than learning from real life experiences.

Subra sir,
Me being an insurance agent, i always enjoy your takes on Insurance companies/agents..Please do write on the same topic (would really appreciate if you write something good/encouraging about them for us to learn). Otherwise, your routine satiristic take on them will do too..waiting..

Hi Sir,
I have been reading your blogs since more than a year. It is true wisdom. Here are few things I wish to know from you considering your experience.
1. How did you play the Harshad mehta bull market ?
2. How did you play the dreadest bear market?
3. How did you get courage and conviction to keep stocks for years ? How you overcome your fear and greed?
4. How to read an annual report?
5. Scams of Indian stock market and your reaction.

I read your blog everyday along with my office mails, like routine daily news paper.
Most of them are very useful, some I could not understand it,sorry for my ignorance.
I would like you to write on how House Loans/Car Loans are helpful/not helpful to save tax and pay long term EMIs(Logically).
How tax exemption schemes are helpful for employed?
Thanks,
Raju

Your positive learnings if any, from your own blog readers. By positive I mean not about the mistakes commonly committed or common investor attitude etc but things that you’ve actually used in your own money matters and benefited. Put simply, NOT ABOUT your readers but FROM your readers.

1) How to make your investments data private,ie Data leakage. eg AMFI or so is sending my consolidated MF statements by post, i didnt ask it. If anyone sees it it is bad for me.
2) Do you think some times specific stocks are manipulated, for some period of time ? If yes, what are the signs to look for, how they usually do it, how it benefits them exactly. (of course without going into any “names”)
3) One would think it is good to invest in a ruthlessly profitable/ customer unfriendly company (eg real estate cos) because of profit. But is it a good idea ?. They may be siphoning of money without giving profit to shareholder. Pls write something about it.
4) Auditors , can we trust them ? 🙂 . What are the “inside stories” there ?. After Satyam i already know some answer.
5) If i try to open a bank locker and the bank manager says it is allowed Only if you take a ULIP from us, what can i do , eg Cry or Weep ?
